@mayorsamadams: Twitter On!

I say, my good lady, that column is, indeed, pure hackery of the silliest sort!

“Aggressive Advocates”

These people aren’t difficult to deal with. They’re easy to identify and they usually use a line right when you walk by. All you have to do is say “No, thank you!” You should say it firmly, but not impolitely. A smile helps. It’s pretty easy. There’s not much someone can do when you confidently, but politely refuse to interact with them.

If This is Church’s, Call Me Atheist

omgomgomg There’s a fucking Church’s in Vancouver now!? I’m sorry for everything bad I ever said about Vancouver. Now to find one of my friends with a car and nothing to do for a couple hours…

SLL: Dude, Where’s My Newspaper?

The digital journalism camp looks interesting, but I think will spontaneously combust if I step into the Oregonian offices.

Upsidasium

It’s because they’ve announced distribution by email. God is angry.

Portland Mercury Copyright Infringement

Just to clairfy, I wasn’t implying that my explanation of creative commons was, in any way, related to Aaron’s problem, which I have no comment about.

» Posted By Will Radik On May 30, 2009 @ 6:30 pm

@FoodDude Creative Commons is very simple and easy to label on flickr. Don’t see why anyone should have a problem with it.

by: attribution – someone can use this for anything as long as they credit the creator

nc: no one may use this for commercial purposes, i.e. advertisements or posters they sell

by-nc: Combo of the above

sa: No derivatives. You may distribute the work and share it, as on a blog, but not change it.

by-nc-sa: Should be obvious.

What’s so hard about this? If you can take a photo and post it on flickr, you should be able to easily understand that.

Those silly interns.

For Rapid Transit, they Gallop…

I wish they would come out and do that here on East Burnside, people seem to think they’re on an interstate out here.

Done.

Hung Far Low sign returning

I’m glad it’s gonna stay. As far as preserving signage, it’s clear that we can’t, and don’t preserve every bit of insignificant signage. But when something like this soaks into the character of the city and possesses a unique charm, it adds a flavor to the city.

Portland’s willingness to preserve things like this is part of what makes it great, which is why I don’t understand the idea of tearing down Memorial Coliseum.

Macy’s Ghost Bikes

A lot of what your “hip” crowd perceives as pr flubs by big corporations are actually clever viral marketing attempts. Not sure if this is one of those, but it certainly did get you to mention Macy’s a few times, didn’t it?

The Band: Practicing in the Dark

Although you were skating dangerously close to the cheese vats toward the end of this, it’s a nice post. Could apply to any creative discipline.

And there’s nothing more boring than watching a band full of self-important fret-gazers.

Just remove the fare machines

Not to say their system doesn’t have problems, too, but Tri-Met could really take a few pages from SF’s muni when it comes to the way they handle some things, such as fares.

OurPDX February meetup 2/10 at Davis Street Tavern

And then after that, haul your asses down to Chopsticks! Wish I could go to this, but I work Tues. nights. now. : P

OurPDX Shared Links

I have to agree with Patrick on this one. When people started wadding up balls of bacon and calling them “bacon turkeys” I felt things may have been going a little too far.

What Twitter could have given Sam, and Portland

I think he handled himself just fine. However, you have a valid point that he could get more out of his twitter account. But does he have time for that? : D

“What *he* said…”

Way to go! I was so happy when I saw that Mercury story earlier today. Steven Humphrey is awesome.
