The Band: How to Guarantee You Will Never Get Good Shows
I forgot to mention one thing:
The bar staff makes money when the crowd is happy and is drinking. If your antics cause people to leave, or to come to the door, stop, and turn around and go somewhere else, this is bad.
Be polite to the bar staff, keep the crowd happy, and you will be invited back.

Let It Melt, Let It Melt, Let It Melt…
Ugh. These will probably be around awhile. Someone is going to have to come by after they melt to sweep up the gravel.
Slug trails is a good description.

> we all need a nudge sometimes.
Agreed Amy!
It’s a horrible thing. Hope this saves some people some strife.

If you want a nice starter scotch with crossover appeal, try Macallan 12 or The Dalmore 12. The latter is very easy drinking, affordable at $28 a bottle, and has a pleasant nose of dried apricots.
The one that makes me the happiest is Laphroaig, but it is extremely smoky and tastes like seaweed.
I must confess, I have tried less than 20 scotches so far, so I am not an aficionado.
I’m hoping some others will chime in with their favorite scotches, and their favorite places around town to drink them.

Two Months Until Smoking Ban Takes Effect
My idea of hell is the County Cork pub and restaurant, with its well-lit, lifeless, orderly, sanitary atmosphere. What a snooze fest.
Bars are a place of ill-health, laughter, lust, excess, relaxation, and mirth. I can’t imagine them without the blue haze coming off the cancer sticks.

Fourth Annual Tour of Untimely Departures
PS – Get there early if you can. The lines were pretty long last year.
PPS – The cemetery has had problems with vandalism in the past. Hosting the Halloween event raises money for preservation efforts and ensures that many watchful eyes are in the cemetery on that night to dissuade would be vandals.

Cool wheels!
This reminded me about the Lone Fir Cemetery Tour. There are people who own hearses who bring them to the cemetery to party in them on Halloween night. Wacky.

Some of my coworkers built a bike out of spare parts. Everyone can use it to run errands at lunch and not waste gasoline.
It’s the little things. It also builds community inside the office. I didn’t contribute any bike parts or labor, but I’m very appreciative to those who did.

> See I could never do fennel
Yeah, I happen to like it, but I understand why some people don’t. It’s the primary spice in the sweet Italian sausage recipes I have reviewed. It’s what gives it the kick. You could always try making another type of sausage, like garlic and black pepper.
Other folks don’t like cilantro or rosemary.

Gonna have a lot of dill weeds at the sausage party.

Here is the salt that I use. It’s available at Sheridan’s Market.
It blows away part of my locavore effort. I guess I’ll have to live with it though, because there is no substitute for certain salts.

Those ducks are going to be thirsty. What are they going to do if they eat too many quackers? I mean . . . crackers.
Sorry

Is the restaurant called Seafood Mama still around over by Northwest 21st? I wondered if that is where they got the name for their band?
I ate there one time. I had cioppino, which came out as a bunch of shellfish floating in ketchup. Their steamed clams were pretty good though. I hardened my heart to ever returning to the restaurant.
