This bums me out. Dan is a cautious and courteous driver.

*What’s* In Our Water Again…??? (The PDX Reservoir Scare)
I’ve been drinking coffee and ice water downtown all week. Guess I’ll be the test subject for y’all. Here’s to being Irish, and the ability to filter all forms of health-endangering beverages!

Well said, Nathan. Happy eventual 21st burfday!

Hoisting a Diet Cherry Pepsi in your general direction and wishing you the best. And yes, please come to the meetups. (Especially the karaoke ones. I will never hear Whole Lotta Love the same way again…)
Cheers!

PDX in Your Pictures: Silver Dude on the Bus
I’ve ridden the bus with him. He’s a model passenger, quiet, doesn’t leave a silver trail, etc… I did notice that he’d missed a spot behind his ear, debunking the myth that he’s actually made of silver. Another illusion shattered!

Considering how long I’d known about the buckets before actually getting the opportunity to buy one, I’d say the rat bastards have been converging with a vengeance for a long time now.
My defense for posting about it? I refer to the title of the post…

After watching you kill at karaoke, I’m convinced you could pull off ANYTHING!

Amen.
I’m guessing the Oregonian had trouble getting comments because people get tired of being approached every three steps. I feel sorry for folks when they just want directions, because my snappish “WHAT?” is geared toward the “change/food/cigarette/need beer” crowd. I want to wear a button that says, “Don’t ask me for shit” but I’m not quite that anti-social yet.
Also, Sisters of the Road has been closed for three weeks, due to an incident with a small child and a hypodermic needle. Story here: http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/sisters-of-the-closed/Content?oid=1554532

Thank you! I was pretty sure, but I once referred to Ford as a GM product. I’m still trying to live that down.

Where does one find SLL on cable access?

If people showed that kind of common sense I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I actually enjoy watching/blowing shit up, but not at the risk of homes, livelihoods, appendages, etc…
My favorite stupid moment happened at Ft Vancouver. A bunch of folks were shooting mortars at a passing train, (and hitting it!) when a dud fizzled out the launch, rolled under a Winnebago and caught the grass on fire. My quick-minded buddy ran over, tossed his 6-oz glass of chablis on the fire, and when that didn’t work he tried diving under the Winnebago to roll on the fire. He hit his head on the side of the rig and knocked himself out. (Chablis puts out brain cells, too.) Fortunately someone had a fire extinguisher. Oh how I wish someone had filmed it.

This was the first time I’d seen them in use. One of those things I’ve walked by a thousand times before noticing. There’s another one by the courthouse on 4th.

A man at the Hotel Monaco was complaining at the desk about the noise above his room.
“But sir, they’re holding an Elk’s Convention up there.”
He yelled back, “I don’t care if they have him by the antlers, I want to get some sleep!”
(I’ll be here all week, don’t forget to tip your waitress…)

A long time ago, in a multiplex far away…
Which offense was worse? My goofing the Star Wars lineup, or referring to Ford as a GM product?
Guess I’m not one to let the facts get in the way of a good story…

Apologies for goofing the order. It was early, no coffee, yoda yoda…

A lot of the downtown criminal element comes from outer neighborhoods. I believe the proper term is “you don’t shit where you eat.” They go to work just like the cops do. Drug habits are a seven-days-a-week job.
I no longer see losing buses to fareless square as a problem, with the crosstown MAX lines running. But then, I have a bus pass and like walking downtown.

Dear Angel,
I didn’t mean to imply that all women are shallow, like diamonds or are materialistic. My experience has been quite the opposite, which is why it surprised me that it would be such a theme that day. I see five-digit weddings the same way as diamonds; I want someone who’d be more interested in putting a down-payment on a house than spending that much money on a party. Weddings don’t have to be expensive to be beautiful, and it’s not the cost of the ring that defines the love.
On the other hand, if I had a million dollars? Let’s party.
The trombone effect is gonna get played TO DEATH! tyvm

Late night meetup – Wizardboots @ Kelly’s Saturday
A chance to go cruising on arguably the busiest Saturday night of the year in someone else’s car? Set the controls for the heart of the sun and call me Captain Trips.

I think I’m one of the few that actually has a picture of her, but I know better than to share. I prefer my parts intact.

Dear hi,
You’re just jealous because nobody wants to ‘follow’ you. (nosepinch)

A friend once moved his cat by motorcycle. He put it in a cardboard box and bungeed it to the back of the bike. He couldn’t understand why people were pointing and laughing, until he saw in a reflection that the cat had clawed a hole big enough to get his head out of the top and was enjoying the ride.

I turned the game on the radio just as the 15-0 run started. Brian Wheeler’s vivid play-by-play had me feeling like I was there. Maybe I’ll watch TV *and* listen to the radio next time.

All of a sudden I feel guilty for going to the bathroom with 1:30 left. And I wasn’t even at the game…

“You sound like a broken record!”
The last two LPs were purchased at Tower Records at Eastport Plaza. They moved to Gateway, Eastport Plaza was torn down and rebuilt. I always felt guilty buying from Tower. I preferred giving my money to the little guy.
And yes, Morty, I’m pretty sure that 45 is still in a box around here somewhere. They’re in rough shape, but we have a stack of them. Nobody would buy them back in the day.

It was a great show. Excellent interview with the band here: http://podcast.kufo.com/kufo2/1687833.mp3
If you haven’t seen them, do so. (They’re playing Coachella.) I also recommend the album “Live at the Whiskey a Go-Go on the Fabulous Sunset strip.” It captures the essence of their live shows.» Posted By Cosmic Charlie On April 14, 2009 @ 1:58 am
«« Back To Stats PageGood news! Your ceiling is intact. I crossed paths with Ted Papas last night and asked him about it for you.
Maybe you should make a trip down for a shot of Ouzo and toss a plate?
